Located in the centre of Marseille on the grounds of the Hopital de la Timone, this new laboratory brings together students, tutors and researchers, forming a connecting link between the city's largest hospital and the Faculty of Medicine. The space chosen lies at the intersection between two worlds: care and research. Its specific location on the Boulevard Jean Moulin has led the way facing up to the architectural challenges, with its design of a real mineral prow figure. Taking advantage of the ample space on the site, it now accommodates simple, flexible modular areas. The rectangular geometry of the architectural plan, measuring 30 m x 65 m, the systematic layout of the air supply system, the minimal structural presence and its double-skinned protection provide all of the necessary characteristics for a high-performance, scalable laboratory. The concept of façades is eclipsed in a prism of sunlight.
